Summer Fun

Summer Fun

It’s summertime! The days are longer the nights are warmer and it’s a great time to get outside for activities. We thought we’d put together a list of some fun summer activities that you may not have thought of. So put on some sunscreen, we prefer reef safe of course, and try something new this season. Who knows, it might just turn into your favorite new sport.

1-Rock Climbing

Do you like a physical and mental challenge? Rock climbing may be perfect for you. This sport challenges your strength, endurance, agility, and balance. Not quite ready for harnesses and looking down at a couple hundred-foot drop? How about bouldering? Bouldering is a form of free climbing. You climb smaller rock formations and there is no harness used. There are many indoor rock climbing gyms you can take a couple of lessons to learn the ropes before you take it to the hills. We promise, there’s nothing quite like the view at the top of a climb.

2-Beach Volleyball

We know, you hated volleyball in gym as a kid. But beach volleyball is so much more fun. What’s not to love with fun under the sun and the sand under your feet. After all, everything is better at the beach. And many areas have teams you can join. Forget the Netflix and couch tonight, even if you’re not ready to serve the ball, get out and check out a local match.

3-Frisbee Golf

Yes, you read that right. No, we’ve never actually played, but it sounds like fun. All you need to do is pick an open spot at a park. Pick a target and you keep track of how many throws it takes for you to hit it. Just like golf… but different. There are supposedly frisbee golf courses out there. We might have to find one and check it out. It does sound like a lot of fun with a group of pals.

4-Scuba/Snorkeling

It wouldn’t be a summer list of activities without at least one water sport. Summer is a great time to get scuba certified. And yes, even if you live in the mountains, you can scuba dive. They certify you in the lakes and there are great places in the Rocky Mountains, Utah, and all the other Midwest states to get certified and dive. If you are lucky enough to live on the coast or are planning a trip it’s a great time to grab that snorkel and fins and make like a fish. It’s a beautiful and interesting world under the sea.

5-Beach Yoga

Need some zen in your life? Summer is a great time for sunrise beach yoga. There’s nothing like the ocean and salt air at sunrise to put it all in perspective. Can’t find a group? How about starting your own? It’s one of the best ways to get your day started on the right foot.

So, there you have it. Of course, there’s still plenty of hiking and biking trails for your active pleasure, but why not get out and try a little something different this summer? Be sure to stay hydrated out there. Don’t forget a hat, sunglasses, and sunblock. Oh, and your sense of adventure and fun!
